Maggie is the owner and director of VCNebraska. Maggie has an extensive volleyball background, competing 9 years for the prestigious Sports Performance Volleyball Club out of Aurora, IL. At the club level, Maggie won 2 Junior Olympic titles, was a 4-time AAU All-American, and 2-time JO MVP. Maggie went on to compete for the University of Nebraska Husker Women's Program, notably winning a National Championship in 2006 and also leading her team to a National Final in 2005. After earning her degree from Nebraska, she traveled to Puerto Rico, Switzerland, and the Netherlands to play professionally for two years. At the conclusion of her playing career, Maggie was offered the opportunity to join her alma mater and become the setting coach under the direction of Coach Cook within the Husker Program for the 2011 season.
Maggie is currently the VCNebraska Master Coach for the 14 and Under program. She also oversees and directs all age groups.
Bryce Hickerson joined the VCNebraska staff in the summer of 2012 and is now the current Director of Player Development. Bryce started his volleyball career with the prestigious Sports Performance Volleyball Club in Aurora, IL. His high school success propelled him into the college scene, where he competed at Missouri Baptist in St. Louis. Bryce most recently completed a year of professional volleyball for A!B!C Titans in Wuppertal, Germany, where his team won the League Championship.
Since finishing his collegiate playing career, Bryce has coached in and around Lincoln for the past four years. He has worked with all ages and abilities, as well as everything from Husker camp to Lock-ins.
Bryce is the Master Coach for VCNebraska's Youth Academy, which begins in the fall of 2012. He will also be head coaching VCNebraska Elite teams during the 2013 club season. Bryce is our small and group "Lesson Extraordinaire", willing and able to coach all ages, positions, and abilities.
Dan Meske is the current Assistant Coach for the University of Nebraska Volleyball Program. Before joining Nebraska, Meske had an extensive playing career throughout his junior and collegiate years. Meske competed for the well-known Sports Performance Volleyball Club for 3 years and was offered an invitation to compete for the Ohio State University, notably making a Final Four appearance in 2005. He went on to play professionally for BNI Taplus in Indonesia, winning the regular season title and earning a runner-up finish in the national tournament.
Meske has coached at the 14's and 16's age level, leading the Sports Performance 16-Red team to a Silver finish at the 2009 AAU National Championships.
Most recently, Meske coached VCNebraska 14 Dan to a silver medal finish at AAU Nationals in 14 Open in 2012.
Lindsay Peterson is in her seventh year as Director of Operations for the Nebraska volleyball program. Peterson was a four-year performer in the Nebraska program from 1999 to 2002, helping the Huskers to a 123-10 record, including a national title in 2000. She was hired at Nebraska in 2006 after serving assistant coaching stints at Northern Colorado and Virginia Tech.
Lindsay served as a club coach for Nebraska Juniors from 2008-2010, helping the 15-and-under team to a USA Junior Olympic National title in 2010.
Brigette Root is currently an undergraduate at UNL, looking to earn her degree in May. She just finished her last season as a Husker in December of 2011, serving as Team Captain and helping the team towards their first Big 10 Championship. Brigette trained and played as a setter for her 4 year tenure, also seeing time as a serving specialist. Brigette will graduate from Nebraska as one of the most highly respected and admired Huskers in history, proving her work ethic and leadership as an asset to the program.
In high school, Brigette played for Grand Island Senior High and led them to back-to-back State Runner-Up finishes her junior and senior year. She also played for the GI Islanders club from 2000-2008. Brigette gives credit for her volleyball IQ to her father, Bill who is the current head coach at Grand Island.
Brigette has a passion for coaching and has been a key role at Husker camps for the past 4 summers. She enjoys working with kids of all ages and skill levels and hopes to spark a love for volleyball for participants in the VCNebraska 12 and Under program!
Darcy Lindner has coached club volleyball in Lincoln since 2004. Lindner is a very passionate coach and enjoys the 13-14 age group as teaching basic fundamentals is her strong suit. Darcy played volleyball, basketball, softball and track at Concordia University in Seward, NE. Lindner is a two-time All-American in volleyball and a three-time All-American in track as a javelin thrower and sprinter. Darcy was inducted into Concordia's Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008. Darcy stays busy off the court raising her son Paxton, who is a junior on the swim team at Lincoln Southwest High School.
Darcy coaches in the 14's age group for VCNebraska. VCNebraska 14 Darcy became the first VCNebraska team to qualify for USAV Nationals, earning a bid in the regional tournament and competing in Columbus, OH in June 2012.
Marla comes from Plattsmouth, Nebraska were she teaches middle school physical education. She played volleyball for Peru State College graduating in 2002. She has coached for 10 years all of which were in Nebraska. Marla has coached for club programs such as Southeast Juniors, Plattsmouth Juniors, Nebraska Juniors and high school programs at Nebraska City and most recently, Plattsmouth. Marla also coaches basketball and track. She was recently married in 2010 and had her first baby in 2011.
Marla coached in the VCNebraska 15 and under program in 2012. Marla truly enjoys getting to know student athletes and pushing them to succeed on and off the court!
Allison is the current Varsity Volleyball Coach for Wilber-Clatonia. She has coached in the club scene in Lincoln for the past 3 seasons, as well as student coached at Lincoln NorthStar High School. Allison boasts an impressive playing career, winning 2 Paralympic Medals in 2004 and 2008, coming fron the Athens and Beijing Paralympics respectively. She has started for her country the past 8 years, and was named the best setter in the world in 2004 as well as the 13th top point scorer. Allison will be attending the 2012 Paralympics in London with a 2010 qualification at the World Championships in Oklahoma.
Lindsey Licht has an extensive background in competition, coaching, and teaching at every level. Licht joined the Husker volleyball team in the fall of 2007 and quickly took a significant role within the program. She helped lead her team to a 2008 National Semifinal appearance against eventual National Champion Penn State and was named an AVCA All-American during her senior year in 2010.
Lindsey's passion is working with younger kids on the court as well as in the classroom. She is currently the freshman coach at Lincoln Southeast High School while she is also a substitute teacher. Lindsey coaches at the 13-14's and 12's age level for VCNebraska.
Nate comes to us from California, where he was the Volunteer Assistant for Cal Poly from 2007-2011. Nate earned the role of Head Coach for the Women's Club team from 2007-2011 and won a National Championship with the program in 2010. While coaching the Women's team, he also competed on the Men's club team. Nate most recently traveled to Austria to become the Technical Coordinator for the SVS Post under USA Assistant Coach Jamie Morrison, where his team became Austrian League Champions. Nate is currently the Graduate Assistant for the Nebraska Volleyball Program, where he is in charge of video and statistics.

Ty spent last fall season as the assistant coach at the College of St. Mary in Omaha, helping to lead the Flames to a berth in the MCAC Conference Tournament. Prior to his time in Omaha, he coached extensively in Colorado. He coached club volleyball with the Peyton Volleyball Club, Flatirons VBC, and Colorado Rize. He was the JV coach at Legacy High School and Sophomore Team Coach at Monarch High. He coached the Centaurus High School Boys' team to a berth in the State Tournament in 2006, and was the assistant varsity coach for five years (2003-2007) with the girls' program at Centaurus, with five straight post-season appearances, and one conference championship (2005).
Ty played in high school, his team making the state tournament in 1998 and 1999, and holding the state number 1 ranking for most of the 1999 season.
Laura is a Lincoln native and graduated from Lincoln Southwest High School in 2007. She continued her volleyball career at Nebraska Wesleyan, where the team was ranked in the NCAA DIII Top 25 and made it to the national tournament each season. Laura received numerous post season honors including NCAA DIII All-American status for two consecutive years. She became only the second player in Wesleyan history to earn the All-American honor for more than one season. Laura received her Bachelor degree in Psychology in 2011 and is currently continuing her education as a graduate student at Rockhurst University in Kansas City. She will graduate in June with a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy. She has coached club volleyball for several years and enjoys helping girls achieve success at every level.
Katie is a Lincoln native who competed for Fort Hays State University from 2002-2006 the middle blocker position. During her tenure, the team was ranked in the NCAA Division II Top 25, and Katie attained All-RMAC honorable mention. As of 2011, she still holds school records for blocking and hitting percentage. Katie has coached summer volleyball camps for teenagers with FHSU and other organizations across Nebraska. Katie was named to RMAC All-Academic honor roll all four years at FHSU, currently a graduate student at UNL, has an identical twin sister (in case you see two of her) and loves volleyball, math, and science! Katie works with all age divisions.
